New ASTM Standards Ameristar, along with
several other ornamental fence manufacturers and users, is heavily involved in development
of industry standards on ornamental fencing. The American Society for Testing and
Materials subcommittee F14.35 on "Architectural Metal Fencing Systems", is
developing three new standards to provide specifiers with a definitive baseline for
ensuring that fences can be purchased to meet standard structural performance and surface
finish endurance criteria. The new standards being developed are on: 1)Terms and
definitions; 2)Structural performance testing; and 3) Coating performance testing.
Ameristars Paul Bulton is the subcommittee chairman and he would be happy to answer
any questions related to the ongoing standards development activity.
